Eastern Kentucky University

EKU started as Eastern Kentucky State Normal School and Teachers College, an institution focused on providing degrees in education. In 1966, the college was renamed Eastern Kentucky University and began awarding degrees in academic fields other than education. Today, EKU continues to prepare future generations of educators along with engineers, scientists, and artists.

Transfer Your Credits

Eastern Kentucky University recognizes transfer credits for undergraduate and correspondence courses from colleges and universities that are accredited by the following regional accrediting bodies:

Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
Higher Learning Commission
New England Association of Schools and Colleges
Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities
Western Association of Schools and Colleges

EKU does not recognize credits for:
Remedial courses
Experiential learning (unless evaluated and approved by an EKU academic department or Transfer Center)

Credits must be less than 8 years old to be applied to major or supporting course requirements. There is no limit on the number of credits that can be transferred as long as they are issued by an approved accredited institution.

Transfer students from other Kentucky public colleges and universities are eligible to transfer specific blocks of courses based on the regulations outlined in the General Education Transfer Agreement from the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE).
